JUNE 2010
If you've ever wanted to learn to paint "loose" in
watercolor, there's no better time to learn than in the two-day
intensive session at Elder Ridge Workshops with Ga. artist Jim Chapman.
Jim emphasizes the painting fundamentals as well as demonstrating the
nuances of the medium of watercolor to help each artist, regardless of
skill level or experience, to reach the next level of self expression
through watercolor painting.
Light-hearted and fun, the Jim fosters serious
inquiry and painting in a relaxed and comfortable indoor atmosphere.
Using a building block methodology for
his teaching (based on clear and
simple value patterns, strong shapes and vivid colors) Jims students
often experience rapid artistic growth and leave the sessions with much
to build upon and grow in the future, too. Jim focuses on each
individuals path in the class and tailors their instruction
accordingly.
A former Contributing Editor for
The Artists Magazine,
Chapman recently presented a painting demonstration for the Georgia
Watercolor Society at Binders Art Supply in Atlanta. He also has
exhibited with the National Watercolor Society and other prestigious
venues. He also is an adjunct instructor for the Art & Design Department
of Brenau University in Gainesville.
